Sorry to rant, I just can't believe how humiliated and intimidated I was today at that place. we should be treated with decent, standard respect that is expected as with any other legal store in America. It's about time we stop being treated like we're criminals when we buy at dispos we spend so much fucking money and it feels like I'm doing them a favor whenever I go. I was intimidated, and being an introverted guy, felt flustered and lost. One budtender even told me "get the fuck out right the fuck now bro" in a loud ass voice, while security was rushing over like someone got shot. I was told that I was not aloud back, and that I had no right to open the bag. The manager ( I presumed) came and said that they always verify in the back what is being sold (no bag check as is standard in every other dispo), and I could verify it when I left the premises AKA where I could no longer have any chance of disputing my purchase as stated in the receipt. They immediately got hostile and all 4 grown men starting yelling to get the f out, as if I had not just spent almost 80 bucks for an overpriced handful of nugs. I, in my non-raised tone, stated the budtender who gave me the bag didn't even tell me what I had gotten, let alone even showed me the eighth, which is standard at literally every other dispo. Right away, 2 guys started barking at me like I was shooting heroin in to my arm in public, to leave ASAP and that I can't open the bag inside. and when I stepped away from the line, I tried to open the bag and quickly see if it was at least the right brand. Recreational sales only - for medical, please visit our Logan Square location. I had no clue if I had even gotten what I wanted, what the plant site was, anything. The guy had never even showed me what I purchased. When I got my change back, I was handed my presumed eighth in a tightly glued blue bag that didn't give any indication of what was inside.

When I went to the bartender, he had taken my ID, showed me my total behind a plastic screen, and then took my cash (no big deal, standard). When I went to Ascend in River North for the first time tonight, I had an order for an eighth (76 bucks after tax btw) that was preordered before I came. I never feel like this at a liquor store, grocery store, gas station, vape shop, etc. I hate this regime style of buying weed in this state, everyone has such strict rules (such as not even letting you swap a few dollars from your girlfriend who's in line with you), and there's this criminal undertone I feel when I go to most places. Granted, most dispensaries I've been to have been nice and kind, there's alway the few that stick out and give the rest a bad name. Ascend Wellness Holdings plans to acquire stores in Logan Square and River North operated by MOCA. I've been to many dispensaries in my lifetime, and living downtown in Chicago, I've been to almost all of them repeatedly. MOCA - Modern Cannabis (River North) is a Chicago Cannabis Dispensary. A New York-based cannabis company is doubling down on Illinois by acquiring two shops in Chicago.
